The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), is spearheading the National Crime Statistics Exchange (NCSX), a program designed to generate incidentbased data on crimes reported to law enforcement agencies. The FBI has gathered crime statistics from law enforcement agencies across the nation that have voluntarily participated in the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program since 1930. These data have been published each year, and since 1958, have been available in the publication Crime2010 national crime statistics Data is drawn largely from two national, annual reportsthe FBIs Uniform Crime Report (UCR) and the Bureau of Justice Statistics National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS)which measure the scope, magnitude, and impact of crime in the United States.
